First Alert Forecast: weather perfection Sunday and Monday ahead of midweek changes

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A Canadian high pressure system will deliver very comfortable weather for Sunday and Monday. A more-typical-in-summer Bermuda high pressure system will become established later in the forecast period.   Details now…

SUNDAY AND MONDAY: Enjoy clear skies, light to moderate east or northeast breezes, unusually low humidity levels, daytime highs mainly in the upper 70s and lower 80s, and nighttime lows mainly in the upper 50s and lower 60s

SUNDAY BEACH OUTLOOK: Expect surf zones to feature 2 to 4-foot waves (highest north of Cape Fear) and a low to moderate rip current risk (highest north of Cape Fear). Water temperatures: mainly mid 70s. UV Index: extreme. 

EXTENDED FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS: Daytime temperatures will likely grow deeper into the 80s for the middle and latter parts of the week. Humidity will nudge higher too. Shower and storm chances: near 0% Tuesday, near 20% Wednesday and Thursday. 

TROPICAL WEATHER: Atlantic Hurricane Season is here! New tropical storm formation is not expected Sunday. A broad area of disturbed weather in the southern Gulf of Mexico will be monitored for possible long-range development

    Following the passage of a cold front, a pattern of slightly cooler and less humid air will emerge for much of next week. The best chance to see shower and storm activity will be Tuesday, otherwise expect mostly dry conditions. The typical summer pattern return for the weekend as heat, humidity and storm chances return.
