Pender Co. Sheriff's deputies arrest man for spree of B&E vehicles

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

Pender County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a man responsible for a spree of breaking and entering motor vehicles in Burgaw.

According to the Burgaw Police Department, deputies responded to a suspicious persons call near the Food Lion in Rocky Point shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday. When deputies arrived, they located Tyrekic Murphy who fled on foot and led deputies on a short foot chase before being apprehended.

Murphy was turned over to the Burgaw Police Department for outstanding warrants for a spree of breaking and entering of motor vehicles in Burgaw.

Murphy was also charged by Pender County Sheriff's Office for resisting an officer, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and given a $2,000 secured bond.

Murphy is currently being held in the Pender County Jail under a $275,000 bond for the following:

  • 21 Felony Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle
  • 11 Felony Possession of Stolen Property
  • 11 Misdemeanor Larcenies
