First Alert Forecast: T-storms chances end this evening; cooler, drier for the weekend

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The window for scattered showers and thunderstorms will quickly run out this evening.  The weekend forecast will be cooler and mostly dry with plenty of sunshine.  Heat and humidity return by the middle of next week.   Details now…

FRIDAY NIGHT: Most showers and storms will come to a quick end this evening.  We will retain a 30% chance of rain for isolated evening showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise it will be partly cloudy with lows in the mid 60's.

WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS: Expect partly cloudy skies Saturday and full sunshine on Sunday. Rain chances will have trended down to near 20% for Saturday and to near 0% Sunday. Saturday's highs will reach the low 80's but may fall short of 80 on Sunday.  Look for lows in the upper 50's away from the coast Saturday and Sunday night.

WEEKEND MARINE OUTLOOK: Offshore we will see east to northeast breezes at 10-15 mph both days.  Saturday and Sunday seas will run 3 to 5 feet so it will be a bit choppy.  Water temperatures are presently in the low to mid 70's.

NEXT WEEK: Sunny and pleasant Monday with highs in the low 80's.  Highs will warm into the mid and upper 80's for the rest of the week along with rising humidity values.  Spot to isolated shower and thunderstorm chances return Wednesday through Friday.  Overnight lows moderate from low 60's early in the week to near 70 by the end of the week.
