Wilmington man busted for growing pot and mushrooms

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

An investigation into a possible drug house turned up over a pound and a half of marijuana and 36 trays of mushrooms.

Wilmington Police and Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Vice Investigators armed with a search warrant, made a drug growing bust. Christopher James Harris, 33, had 716 grams and 36 trays of Psilocybin mushrooms packed and ready for distribution according to investigators.

The house growing house was located at 4619 McClelland Drive. Investigators said the operation took up an entire bedroom of the house.

Harris is charged with the following:

  • Maintain a Dwelling for the purpose of keeping a controlled substance
  • Manufacture Schedule I Controlled Substance
  • Manufacture Marijuana
  • PWIS&D Schedule I Controlled Substance
  • PWIS&D Marijuana
  • Felony possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

He is in the New Hanover County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
