Officers responded to a reported hit and run in the 2600 block of Market Street at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, the victim said he noticed a black male in a tan Mercury begin blowing his horn at him. The victim then said that the suspect drove up and struck his car on Market Street.
After the suspect struck the victim's car, the victim pulled off on Colonial Drive, followed by the suspect. As the suspect got out of his car he said, "I'm going to shoot you, you cracker."
The suspect fled the scene when the victim raised his hand.
Officers located the suspect, 23-year-old Marcus Erving Thames, at McDonald's.
As officers were arresting Thames they found that he had a concealed knife. Officers charged Thames with hit and run, assault with a deadly weapon, threats and ethnic intimidation, and carrying a concealed weapon.
