First Alert Forecast: Sunny, warm Sunday

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A slightly cooler and less humid air mass will settle in for most of the Memorial Day weekend. Heat, humidity, and thunderstorm chances increase as we move into the new work week.  Details now...

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AND MEMORIAL DAY: Enjoy sunny to partly sunny days with fresh breezes and low to moderate humidity. Daily highs will mainly be in the lower to mid 80s and rain chances will be very low through the period.  We may see afternoon thunderstorm chances peak at 20% Monday afternoon.  Lows will range from the upper 50's Sunday morning to mid 60's Tuesday morning.

REST OF NEXT WEEK: Heat, humidity, and isolated to scattered afternoon thunderstorms return Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the upper 80's. Temperatures will drop slightly behind a front Thursday and Friday.  The weather remains unsettled enough late week that we will retain a 20-30% chance of rain.

BEACH AND BOAT NOTES: Nice overall! Surf zone water temperatures: low to mid 70s. Rip current risk: low. Daily UV Index values: high. Offshore: no advisories.
