A road washed out in Bolivia, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office. The washout created a gap in the roadway that is about 8ft wide, and 20 ft deep.
Members of the sheriff's office say Sunset Harbor Road is closed between Retreat Road and Zion Hill Road. They are asking people to avoid the area.
In initial reports, investigators said the washout was caused by a beaver dam that collapsed and created a surge of water. They say after investigating further they now believe it was caused by a water pipe that collapsed. They believe the old age of the pipe contributed to the collapse.
No one was injured and no homes were damaged.
Officials say they do not know how long it will take to repair the roadway.
