CORDES JUNCTION, AZ (CBS5) -

A brush fire that started Tuesday afternoon near Sunset Point north of Phoenix and burned 487 acres is now 90 percent contained, fire officials said.

A motor home caught fire and the flames spread to nearby brush.

As of Thursday, firefighters were mopping up the Badger Fire, which started at about 2 p.m. Tuesday and blackened 150 acres by early Tuesday evening, according to Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman Pamela Mathis.

Fire officials said the fire, which is believed to be human-caused, is under investigation.

Interstate 17 was shut down for four hours. During the closure, pictures from our news helicopter showed major backups in both directions. Fire crews were seen trying to halt the spread of flames on both sides of I-17. Winds and dry conditions made it difficult to harness the flames.

Mayer Fire Chief Glenn Brown said no structures are threatened and there have been no injuries.

The section of freeway affected is located about 35 miles north of Phoenix.

Fires crews from fire departments in Prescott, Black Canyon City, Anthem and the Tonto National Forest were assisting.
