NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Tom Eanes is leaving his post as the Ashley High School football coach to become the head football coach at Patton High School.
He cites family reasons for the move. "I love the Wilmington area, but my parents are aging and I need to take care of them" said Eanes.
Eanes took over the Screaming Eagles program in 2011 and in three-season compiled an 8-22 record. Prior to being hired at Ashley he spent seven years at Pender where his teams made the playoffs in all seven seasons.
Eanes takes over a Patton team that will be entering its seventh season of playing football, and finished 7-5 in 2013. He replaces Joe Glass, who left Patton to take over as the head coach at Jay Robinson High School.
