BUSTED: Man charged after officers recover 12 grams of cocaine from car

Officers arrested and charged a suspect after he led them on a chase shortly before 8 p.m. Friday.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, a WPD Sergeant saw an individual suspected of selling drugs on the 1000 block of Castle Street. Officers saw the suspect in a vehicle that had a window tint violation and attempted to pull him over, however the suspect put the vehicle in drive and drove away.

As the suspect fled from the officer, he began throwing cocaine out of the vehicle's window. The suspect eventually gave up and pulled over in the 1100 block of Queen Street. After pulling the suspect over, police found that the suspect's girlfriend and two infants were also in the car.

Officers recovered 12 grams of cocaine and also seized more than $8,000 from the vehicle. Officer's also searched the suspect's home and found several scales.

Police arrested Iglesias Montez Dowe and charged him with possession with intent to sell and deliver and manufacture, and child abuse.

Dowe is currently being held in the New Hanover County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
