MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A man is under arrest and charged with murder following an investigation into the shooting death of 34-year-old Michael Thorton.

Montgomery police say detectives have charged 24-year-old Quantarius Moss with one count of murder after he turned himself into authorities. Following his arrest he was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility with a $75,000 bond.

Police received the call of a shooting just after midnight on Sunday. That is when they responded to the 4100 block of Carmichael Road where they conducted the investigation.

Family members told WSFA 12 News that Thorton was the victim in the death investigation. They believed that Thornton died as a result of a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Further investigation revealed that the shooting was a result of an argument between the two men.

No other information is known at this time as the investigation continues.
