According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, the Alcohol Law Enforcement agents arrested four people in Bladenboro May 17 on charges of selling alcohol without permits, drug possession and other charges.

Arrested:

  • Morris Bellamy Jr., Bladenboro – Operating a bawdy house and selling alcohol without permits.
  • Timothy McDowell, Elizabethtown – Possession of marijuana and resist, delay and obstruct.     
  • Desmond Bordeaux, White Oak – Resist, delay and obstruct and possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Michael P. Smith, Whiteville – Carrying a concealed handgun

 

Seven law enforcement agencies in the Bladen County area raided a Bladenboro home in the middle of the night Sunday.

The Wildlife Division, Alcohol Law Enforcement, Bladenboro Police Department, Elizabethtown Police Department, Bladen County Sheriff's Office, Clarkton Police Department and Bladen County Fire Marshal office formed a tactical team to raid a home on Butler Mill Road.

According to law enforcement on the scene, several guns were seized during the raid along with illegal narcotics. Officers received complaints that the home was operating as a nightclub and selling alcohol to minors.

"We all might wear a different badge but we have the same goal," said Bladenboro Chief of Police Chris Hunt, "to make it safe for the community of Bladen County.

The law enforcement agencies had been watching the house months prior to the raid. Several people were arrested for possessing illegal firearms and more charges are pending for others.

Several firearms were seized along with several bags of marijuana, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, liquor, wine and beer. Sheriff's detectives interviewed possible suspects involved in armed robberies. According to the release, more charges are pending.
