Charles H. Boney, 89, a prominent North Carolina architect, has received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award.
Boney joined his family's firm in 1950 and helped design cherished public spaces, preserve Wilmington's historic architecture, construct leading-edge school facilities across North Carolina, and advanced humanitarian and civic causes from affordable housing to cultural affairs.
The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is a prestigious North Carolina honor established in 1963. The award is presented to individuals who have contributed extraordinary service to their communities.
