First Alert Forecast: heavy showers, some severe risk

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A moisture-rich storm system will track through the area Thursday night and part of Friday. Following the storm system, a high pressure system will bring a period of pleasant spring weather beginning late on Friday. Details now...

THURSDAY NIGHT: Expect widespread showers and storms. Isolated storms may turn severe. Heavy rainfall may lead to poor-drainage flooding in spots. Remain weather-aware! Also... temperatures: 60s and 70s... winds: south 20mph+.

FRIDAY: Showers and storms will decrease with time. Rain chances: near 70% in the early morning, near 40% in the late morning, and 10% or less for the rest of the day. Temperatures: in the 70s most hours. Winds: south or west 15mph+.

WEEKEND: Expect partly cloudy skies for Saturday and variable clouds for Sunday. Daytime temperatures: mainly 70s. Nighttime temperatures: mainly 50s. You'll likely notice a drop in humidity compared to previous days too - enjoy!
