The Wilmington Housing Authority Board has voted to enter into contract negotiations with a final candidate for the CEO position.
The housing authority's former CEO, Michael Krause, was terminated after receiving his second DWI in September.
After meeting for close to an hour in closed session, the WHA Board decided to offer the position to a final candidate.
WHA Board Chair Jeff Hovis said the contract negotiations will include discussion of salary and benefits.
He said that once the contract is signed, a release will be sent out notifying the public that a new CEO has been named.
Hovis would not name the candidate who has been offered the position. He did note that the person is highly qualified for the position and has a background in public housing.
Hovis said the WHA Board will contact the candidate within the next day. If negotiations fall through, Hovis said the WHA Board will offer the position to another individual.
