BHI ferry accident investigation complete, review underway

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Officials are one step closer to determining what cause the Bald Head Island Adventure Ferry to run aground in December.

According to Lt. Lane Munroe with the US Coast Guard, the investigation has been completed by CG Sector Wilmington and has been forwarded to CG Headquarters for review.

When review is complete it will be available for public request.

There is still no word how long it will take for that review to be finalized.

The 64-foot ferry ran aground shortly after leaving Southport for Bald Head Island on December 17, 2013. At least 30 people were on the ferry, and 14 people were transported to nearby hospitals.
