TOPSAIL, NC (WECT) -

From the blunt to the creative, every year millions of high school students muster up the courage to ask someone to prom.

This year a creative surprise during the curtain call of a high school play was the setting for an enchanted ‘promposal.'

The drama department at Topsail High School put on a production of The Little Mermaid, and the two leads in the play, Prince Eric and Ariel, were dating at the time.

During the curtain call at the end of the play, Prince Eric pulled out a playbill with the word, "PROM?" written on it.

The moment was captured by family and friends who say it was the "sweetest promposal."
