Wilmington Police pepper spray downtown crowd

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Wilmington Police found a man unconscious while responding to reports of an unruly crowd in front of Pravda Nightclub early Sunday morning.

According to officials, officers responded to reports of an unruly crowd at 23 North Front Street around 2:20 a.m. Sunday. When police arrived, they found an unconscious man on the ground.

Officials believe there was an altercation between the unconscious man and another man at the scene. The unconscious man was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. 

Wilmington Police ordered the crowd to disperse several times, eventually having to use pepper spray on the crowd.

One man was taken to the hospital and another was arrested for fighting and four others were arrested for failure to disperse.
