WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A hot and mostly dry start to the work week as an upper ridge again builds over much of the southeast U.S. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Thursday in advance of the next cool front. Details...
SUNDAY NIGHT: A few showers or t-storms are possible in the evening but will quickly end as we lose the daytime heating. Otherwise it will be partly cloudy with lows in mid to upper 60's.
MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY: The upper high pressure ridge asserts itself once again. That means another stretch of unseasonably and mostly dry weather. A leftover spot shower or t-storm is possible Monday and Wednesday, but Tuesday is trending drier. Highs each day will be in the upper 80's to near 90. Low 90's are a good bet near I-95. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60's.
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: A cool front approaches from the west. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely Thursday with some storms possibly lingering into Friday. There could be a few strong to severe storms with this system. Highs fall into the low 80's Thursday and upper 70's Friday. Lows will be in the low 60's Thursday night and upper 50's Friday night.
NEXT WEEKEND: Saturday will be mostly sunny and very nice with highs in the upper 70's. Sunday features more cloud cover and a 30% chance of a few showers or a t-storm. Highs Sunday will also be in the upper 70's. Cooler overnight lows in the mid 50's are likely.
