Dozens of pilots flew into the Stag Airport Saturday to show young children what it takes to earn their wings.
Randy Allen is one pilot who volunteered his time to fly children around the airport in hopes of sparking their passion for aviation.
"It's so important because the older generation is retiring, and if we don't have new ones coming along we are not going to have anyone fly our airliners," said Allen.
Two young boys told me it only took one plane ride before they were hooked.
"It's just awesome," said Kade.
"From then on I was completely interested in planes," agreed Eelco.
Eelco said he always had an interest in planes, but it was Randy who got him into flying. Now, Randy is not just an instructor to Eelco but a role model.
"I want to be like him one day and drive a piper cub, " said Eelco.
Randy was humbled by his compliment and says Eelco is the real deal when it comes to aviation.
"He is so eager," explained Allen. "He wants to succeed…he is right."
