WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Small shower and thunderstorm chances return for Mother's Day. The upper high pressure ridge will assert itself again early in the new week. Details...
SUNDAY: Warm and humid thanks to a Bermuda high parked offshore. The environment should be a little more conducive for a few spotty to isolated showers and t-storms in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 80's and lows in the mid 60's.
MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY: The upper high pressure ridge asserts itself once again. That means another stretch of unseasonably and mostly dry weather. A leftover spot shower or t-storm is possible but Tuesday and Wednesday are trending dry. Highs each day will be in the upper 80's to near 90. Low 90's are a good bet near I-95. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60's.
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: A cool front approaches from the west. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely Thursday with some storms possibly lingering into Friday. There could be a few strong to severe storms with this system. Highs fall into the low 80's Thursday and upper 70's Friday.
