WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Piedmont Natural Gas hopes its customers have a little fun with their next bill.

The company included a scratch-and-sniff insert in the bills for May. It contains the rotten egg odor associated with natural gas.

As part of a contest, customers can take a picture of themselves, or a "Smellfie," with their funniest reaction to the scent.

Upload your photo to Piedmont's Facebook page between May 5 and June 13 for a chance to win. Here is a link to the Facebook page: http://on.fb.me/1kEqm1z

"Safety is always our number one priority at Piedmont Natural Gas, and the ‘Smellfie' contest is a fun way to remind our customers through social media of the distinct rotten egg odor that we add to natural gas so that potential leaks can be detected," said David Trusty, managing director for public relations for Piedmont Natural Gas, in a news release.

The public can vote for their favorite "Smellfie." Piedmont will award $25 Amazon gift cards each week and a $100 gift card as a grand prize.
