UPDATE: Suspects charged in Bladenboro shooting

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

Officials have charged two men in reference to a 20-year-old man from Bladenboro being shot while leaving a party early Sunday.

According to Bladen County Sheriff's Office, Brandin Leach left a party in the 100 block of Sand Pit Rd. in Elizabethtown around 1 a.m. Officials say Leach and four others were in a vehicle when shots were fired at them.

Leach was shot in the right knee and drove himself to the hospital. Leach was treated and has since been released. Officials say Leach was not the target of the shooting.

According to statements received from witnesses, an argument began after 17-year-old Zachary Coger became upset after one of the victims was seen talking to his girlfriend at the party. Coger reportedly hit one of the victims in the mouth with his gun before the victims left the in their vehicle.

According to Deputy Chief Rodney Hester with the Bladen County Sheriff's Office, officers charged Coger and 17-year-old Tevin Lamar Baldwin in relation to this incident.

Officials charged Coger with one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, one count of discharging a firearm into occupied property, and three counts of second degree kidnapping. Coger is currently in the Bladen County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.

Officers also charged Baldwin with one count of discharging a firearm into occupied property. Baldwin is currently in the Bladen County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
