UNCW started a new applied learning program called eTEAL. This program offers funding for professors and students who want to enhance their applied learning experiences at the undergraduate level.
Dr. Bill Bolduc explained, "We take what we learn in the classroom, and what we teach in the classroom, and apply that out in the real world."
The grants offered through eTEAL have allowed Dr. Bill Bolduc the resources to take two communication studies students to Swansea, Whales for a study abroad trip this past semester.
"The best thing I have ever done as teacher is to make this opportunity available to them," said Bolduc.
Connor Buss, a communication studies student, said having this opportunity has made all of his hard work outside the classroom pay off.
Another student at UNCW had a similar experience after earning several hundred dollars for her research project from another applied learning program called CSURF.
"Having these recourses has allowed me to take my project to the next level," said Camry.
As a result, she is now getting national recognition for her research.
Both students said these applied learning experiences would not have been possible without the grants offered through these applied learning programs. Now, they both feel prepared and excited for their bright future ahead.
