BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotics team has had a busy week; arresting eight on suspected drug dealing charges.

Detta Queen Matthews, 44, and Zachary Sky Matthews, 17, were both arrested in connection to having possession of marijuana with the intent to sell or deliver it. Both men were live on Gray Bridge Road in Shallotte at the time of their arrest.

Detta Matthews is charged with Possession With Intent to Sell/Deliver (PWISD) marijuana, sell/deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Zachary Matthews was charged with sell/deliver marijuana and Possession With Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver marijuana.

Both posted bonds of $10,000 and $150,000 respectively and were released from the Brunswick County Detention Facility.

Travis Hale, 17, was charged with PWIMSD heroin, sell/deliver heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hale was found with 30 bindles of heroin. He is from Wilmington and was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $25,000 bond.

Vernon Whitehead, 21, was charged with manufacturing marijuana, PWIMSD marijuana, and alter/remove gun serial number. Whitehead was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $20,000 bond.

Later in the week four other people were arrested for making meth.
