Presented by the Cucalorus Film Foundation, the Third annual Surfalorus Surf Film Festival will kick off during the inaugural Wrightsville Beach Waterman Ocean Festival Thursday.
Officials say the event invites surfers, nature lovers, water weirdos, cinephiles and fans of everything aquatic to enjoy three days of screenings, soirees, and contests exclusively in Wrightsville Beach - bringing people from Southeastern North Carolina together to celebrate low country coastal culture.
According to the event's website, the Surfalorus you know and love will still feature the hottest new surf films and docs and will include the outdoor Board + Beach Expo at Tidal Creek Co-op. With 3 nights of free screenings, a sundown BBQ, board raffle and curated surf expo. Organizers say this year's festival is the warm fix you need to get the summer started.
The Cucalorus Film Foundation has collaborated with Wrightsville Beach Longboard Association (WBLA) and the Wrightsville Beach Museum to create a new event celebrating recreational water culture at Wrightsville Beach – the first ever Wrightsville Beach Waterman Ocean Festival. As part of the inaugural festival, the trio of local organizations will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the quintessential indie surf film The Endless Summer by Bruce Brown with a free screening Friday, May 2 at the Holiday Inn Resort Wrightsville Beach.
Thursday, May 1 – Opening Night Party @ Annex Surf Supply 5 to 9 p.m.
Friday, May 2 - Endless Summer Screening Party @ Holiday Inn Sunspree 5 to 10 p.m.
Saturday, May 3 - Surfalorus Board + Beach Expo @ Tidal Creek Coop 5 to 10 p.m.
