The Cape Fear chapter of the American Red Cross is continuing its relief efforts across the state by supporting victims that lost homes to the outbreak of tornadoes and severe storms.
More than 150 disaster workers have met with dozens of affected families, handed out hundreds of supplies, and served more than 3,000 hot meals.
The Cape Fear chapter's Communications Director, Autum Mihm said volunteers have been working constantly across the state since the storms first broke out last Friday.
Dozens of volunteers have responded to Beaufort, Perquimans, Chowan, and Wilson Counties.
"Of course we provide meals and supplies but we are also a presence in the community," said Mihm. "They see us. They trust us. We talk to them and assure them that everything will be okay."
With more severe weather possible later this week, Mihm wants residents to be to prepared for disasters.
The American Red Cross is also asking for donations to help storm victims.
