BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Dozens of people packed the parking lot of the First Citizens Bank in downtown Bladenboro Tuesday night to speak out against the Beer and Wine Referendum.
With Election Day getting closer, the group is speaking out against the referendum on the ballot in Bladen County.
Leaders spoke to the crowd encouraging them to vote against the referendum. They argued that bringing alcohol to the county will not create new jobs, bring new businesses, or help the struggling economy.
Most of the people who spoke Tuesday night said that alcohol will likely bring an increase in domestic violence and alcohol related traffic accidents.
The group is encouraging Bladen County residents to get out and vote against the referendum on May 6.
