One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being struck by two vehicles in southeast Charlotte Tuesday.
The incident happened just after 9:30 p.m. on the 5400 block of Central Avenue.
Police said Donnis Patterson was crossing Central Avenue when he was hit by a 2001 Ford Explorer driven by Marva Bradley.
According to investigators with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Bradley was traveling in the outbound lane on Central Avenue and immediately stopped.
Patterson was then hit a second time by a small dark-colored vehicle traveling in the same lane.
Police said the second vehicle did not stop at the scene.
According to investigators, the hit and run car may be a Nissan Sentra.
Patterson was taken to Carolinas Medical Center and was listed as being in critical condition.
Police said speed is not a contributing factor in the crash and alcohol is not a factor for Bradley.
Police do not know if alcohol is a contributing factor for Patterson or the hit and run driver at this time.
Police said Patterson was not in the crosswalk.
Bradley was not hurt in the crash.
Central Avenue was closed between N Sharon Amity Road and Albemarle Road while crews worked the scene.
Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit are reviewing video surveillance footage in order to identify the hit and run vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filled at this time.
