WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Two students are still beaming after their classmates voted them as Ashley High School's Senior Prom King and Queen.

Amanda Gooding and Henry Tanner are both students in the specially designed academics program and were crowned king and queen at Ashley's Senior Prom on March 29.

Gooding is 22 years old and will be graduating this year. Prom night will be one of her most memorable moments.

"It feels good to be a prom queen and I loved my tiara and sash!" Gooding explained.

Gooding's mom said she believes that prom night was the best night of her daughter's life.

The 18-year-old prom king is also still reminiscing.

"It made me happy and proud of myself when they called my name for Prom King," Tanner said. "It was exciting and I had so much fun."

Both Gooding and Tanner are heavily involved in their school and community. Gooding delivers mail with a smile to her teachers. Tanner is one of the Women's Soccer managers at Ashley and plays baseball for the Miracle League.
