PHOENIX, AZ (WECT) – What started as a tryout for former Hoggard standout kicker Casey Barth turned out to be a whole lot more.
Saturday, Barth was in Phoenix for a tryout with the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League. Barth wasn't expecting to hear from the team that day. But later, after the Rattlers kicker suddenly went down with an injury, they asked Barth to stay and kick for the team that night.
Barth had a great performance in his first professional game he hit 9 extra points in the Rattlers 69-59 win over San Antonio. He also had 10 kickoffs that totaled 564 yards and four touchbacks.
Barth continues to try to land a job as a professional kicker. He was cut by the Atlanta Falcons, and has taken part in numerous tryouts.
