UNCW finishes 4th at CAA Championship

SOUTHPORT, North Carolina – UNCW placed three golfers in the top-10 but was unable to defend its Colonial Athletic Association title as league newcomer College of Charleston captured the championship by seven strokes over Towson. UNCW finished fourth.

Payne McLeod capped his collegiate career with a fourth-place finish, his 18th career top-10 finish. Fellow senior Stefan Brewer was fifth and freshman Preston Harrington tied for eighth.

CofC overcame a slow start to run past the field in the final two rounds. The Cougars opened the final round tied with Towson, but carded an even-par 288 to win it.

Towson's Juan Veloza won the individual championship by two strokes over CofC's John Jonas.
