NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Elections officials said
that more voters came out to the first day of early voting than were
anticipated. They said they saw around 325 voters at the New Hanover County
Government Center Thursday.

the first day. Pender County officials said turnout was very light.
Hanover County officials said that generally the first day of early voting is
slower than most polling days. They said that this year they're getting the
vibe from voters that this will be a higher than usual turnout. They urge
everyone to continue voting.
"This is your chance to voice your opinions. This is your
chance to make your voice heard to speak - whether one little vote counts or
not," said lead election official Laura Rogers.
Early voting ends on May 3. Primary elections will be held on May 6.
