First Alert Weather: storm chance Friday ahead of bright weekend

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - An upper-atmosphere disturbance may trigger a shower or storm or two Friday. Following the disturbance, a high pressure system will likely bring bright and warm weather for the weekend. Details...

THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY: Expect variable clouds and increasingly gusty south breezes. Shower or storm chances: 10% Thursday night, 40% Friday. One or two storms may be strong with wind and / or hail issues. Lows Thursday night: 50s. Highs Friday: upper 70s and lower 80s.

WEEKEND: Enjoy with a cool beverage and an application or two of sunscreen! Ample sunshine should boost temperatures to the upper 70s and lower 80s each day inland and beaches will be just a touch cooler. Nighttime lows: mainly 50s. Rain chances: near 0%.

A PEEK INTO NEXT WEEK: Monday will likely remain dry, but a sluggish storm system will likely reach the region Tuesday and perhaps stay through Thursday. The system will bring 30 to 50% shower / storm chances in that period. Daily temperatures: seasonable 70s and 80s.
