WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has extended its closure of Masonboro Sound Road between Cabbage Inlet Lane and Seabreeze Boulevard until Tuesday, April 29.
According to Mike McGill with the CFPUA, challenging soil conditions forced the extension. CFPUA originally planned to have the work done by the end of the week.
Crews began sewer system construction work this past Wednesday that required the closure.
Message boards have been placed in advance in the area.
An official detour has not been established because direct access to all local subdivisions remains available off of either Masonboro Loop Road or Masonboro Sound Road.
As always, the CFPUA asks those who use an affected road as a pass-through to another area to take an alternate route.
