WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Wilmington Housing Authority Board has narrowed it's search for a new CEO down to two final candidates.

The WHA held a special meeting Wednesday to continue reviewing applicants. Coming into Wednesday's meeting, five candidates remained.

According to Wilmington Housing Authority Board Chairman Jeff Hovis, the board will hold final interviews  between May 5 and May 7. The new CEO will be named shortly after those interviews.

Hovis is asking the community to send in questions to ask the candidates as final interviews approach. Questions can be submitted in-person at the Housing Authority headquarters located at 1534 16th Street or posted online at wha.net.

Hovis said he is ready for CEO search that started with 140 candidates to come to a close.

However, the process isn't being taken lightly as he realizes the importance this decision holds for the future of Wilmington's public housing developments.
