LELAND, NC (WECT) - Emergency crews are responding to reports of a fire at Victaulic Enterprises in Leland.

According to officials, a small mechanical fire broke out inside the business, which is located at 2010 Enterprise Drive, but was put out.

200 Employees were evacuated as a precaution. No one was reported injured.

Scott Adams, the Director of Operations for Victaulic says they're thankful that all employees know the plan of action for evacuation procedures.

"The smoke was heavy and standard procedure is when you see that smoke to get everyone out, evacuate, and re-evaluate," said Adams. "Our number one priority is employee safety and it always is."

According to Chief Grimes with the Leland Fire Department, the fire was ruled accidental and caused by materials igniting inside a machine. Employees tried to put the fire out but were unsuccessful.

Officials are still investigating the situation.
