First Alert Weather: After the Easter clouds and chill; better days ahead

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - After a cloudy, chilly, breezy, and at times wet Easter weekend, we will begin to turn the corner as the new week begins!  Warmer and drier days ahead.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Any evening showers will quickly end but it will remain mostly cloudy to overcast.  Expect another chilly night with lows in the upper 40's.

MONDAY: Sunday's coastal low will be long gone and that will pave the way for a return to more seasonable conditions.  Expect a mix of sun and clouds with highs reaching the low 70's as high pressure builds in from the west.  Clouds increase Monday night ahead of the next front with lows dipping into the low 50's.
TUESDAY: Look for increasing clouds and a shot at a few showers and thunderstorms late in the day.  Highs will surge to near 80 thanks to southerly flow ahead of the next cool front.  The best chance for scattered showers or thunderstorms occurs Tuesday evening and night.  Lows will be in the mid 50's.
WEDNESDAY TO FRIDAY: Mostly to partly sunny each day.  Highs rise from the low 70's Wednesday to near 80 Friday.  Lows moderate from the upper 40's Thursday morning to the low 60's Saturday morning.
