Your Week in Pop Culture: 5 questions the 'Scandal' finale didn't answer

(RNN) – For those saving the season 3 finale of ABC's Scandal as a rainy weekend treat, please bypass this section of YWIPC. Also, you're owed a pat on the back for ignoring social media for as long as you have.

That's your spoiler alert.

The Kerry Washington-led drama ended its season with numerous surprises, including President Grant winning re-election, but crushed at the sudden death of his son, Gerry. The infamous Olivia Pope revealed she was the scandal and left Olivia Pope and Associates, taking her father's initial offer to get on a plane and go to the beach. She took the adorably tortured and manipulated Jake with her so they could "stand in the sun together." It turned out to be the plan of her father's all along, and she fell for it.

But the season ended with more questions than answers – here are the five questions that will be on the mind of gladiators until the fall.

  1. Why didn't Eli/Rowan kill Maya Pope? Olivia's parents are crazy, which is why she's crazy. Maya stabbed Eli, telling Olivia she did it to protect her from her father. Olivia didn't buy that. Eli recovered, and through some well done plotting, resumed control of the super-secret spy group B613, blaming Gerry's death on Mama Pope when it was really his ploy to become Command again. Maya was captured, thanks to Harrison, and was thrown in the torture hole by Eli. Is Eli torturing his wife – again – because she broke his heart? Or is he utterly heartless? Probably both, but the characters played by Joe Morton and Khandi Alexander were the stars of this season.
  2. What does this all mean for rouge former Vice President Sally Langston? She pulled a major Florence Nightingale-like power play tending to the wounded of the church bombing in the first act of the finale, but now that she's lost the election, will people find out she murdered her husband?
  3. Is Olivia ever going to get over Fitz? No, she probably wants to move to Vermont and make jam, but Jake really isn't that bad of a consolation prize. Cosmo even compiled a great and girly list of reasons why. It also forces this question: why would a woman refuse to stand in the sunlight with someone instead of being hidden in chilly Vermont? And who wants to make jam?!
  4. Is David Rosen ever really going to catch the bad guys? For a guy who was placed in the position of U.S. district attorney on shady circumstances, he sure is bent on making sure he earns it by taking down the people who put him there. Is he the wearer of the "white hat" when he has blood on his hands as well?
  5. What's going to happen to Harrison Wright? - Olivia's criminal gladiator, who spent most of season 3 afraid of an international terrorist he was in love with, is now faced with being killed by B613 for figuring out Eli's power play. Since the actor, Columbus Short, is facing real-life scandal involving his real wife, that could mean his firing from the show.

Good thing for ABC they didn't save this for May sweeps. Bad news for gladiators everywhere is that Twitter on Thursdays will suck until the fall. We miss Scandal already. So, for those gladiators in pain, here is a blooper reel to make you happy.

Sports: TNT's sharp-dressed man Craig Sager diagnosed with leukemia

Sad news from the sports world – Turner Broadcasting mainstay and flamboyant fashion icon Craig Sager has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, according to the Associated Press. He will miss the NBA playoffs, beginning Saturday.

The brightly colored suits and couture patters Sager fashions will be greatly missed, but are paid immense tribute in the Tumblr blog Craig Sager's Suits. For those not in the know, Sager is like the Tim Gunn of sports.

Sager, who has been a reporter for Turner since the 1970s, was the first man to interview Atlanta Braves slugger Hank Aaron after he hit homerun no. 715 in April 1974.

Keep Sager in your thoughts and continue to love his bright ensembles through this ad for the Kindle Fire HDX.

Urban Dictionary entry of the week: ‘keep it https'

Want a new phrase that says in the coolest way possible "it's a secret?" Then Urban Dictionary has the saying for you.

This week, the Urban Dictionary entry of the week is "keep it https."

"HTTP is plain-text browser/server communication. The ‘S' adds a security layer, making it very hard to intercept communications (i.e., keeping it secret)," the entry states.

For example, your boss tells you, "This person is on thin ice, but not everyone knows that, so let's keep this https."
