Scammers claim to work at FedEx, plan to break in

(Toledo News Now) -

At least one area woman says she almost fell victim to a scam involving a person who poses as a FedEx employee and a fake delivery.

Sandi Lazette says someone called her, saying they were from FedEx and had a package to deliver. Lazette says she thought nothing of the call, and told the caller she was at home.

"I think I said ‘I'll be home all day,' and they said ‘okay we'll send it right back.' Well I waited home for two hours and no one ever came back," said Lazette.

Lazette says she was confused when the package never showed up. She says he also realized there had never been a missed delivery slip on her door. That's when she says she became suspicious and went to the nearby Northwood FedEx store to investigate.

"They informed me that they don't make outbound calls to customers. That is very unusual and they said there is a scam going on," said Lazette.

It seems the caller was fishing to find out when Lazette would not be home. FedEx says you should never disclose when you will and will not be home.
