WPD reaching out to Wilmington teens, hosting free youth basketball nights

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Wilmington Police Department is doing its part to reach out to the teen community in Wilmington by hosting basketball and fun nights Saturday and Sunday nights.

The events are open to teenage guys and girls at the MLK Center located off of South 8th Street. The fun nights include food and giveaways as well as an open gym session and youth intervention programs. The programs being this weekend and will continue throughout the year.

Saturday night activities will be held every other week, while the Sunday night events will be held every week. All events will be held at the MLK Center located at 401 S. 8th Street. Information for the events can be found below:

Saturday nights (biweekly)
Kick-off Saturday, April 19th
7:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
Boys & girls ages 13-17

Sunday nights
Kick-off Sunday, April 20th
April 27, May 4, May 18, June 1, June 15
3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Boys & girls ages 17-21
