(RNN) - Bostonians marked the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing attacks on Tuesday.

The bombings killed three and injured more than 260 others. Some survivors returned to Boylston Street to symbolically cross the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Tensions increased in eastern Ukraine as pro-Russian protestors seized sections of the country and attacked a military base. Diplomats from the U.S., Russia, the EU and Ukraine came together to find ways to ease the unrest.

More than a dozen people have died and almost 300 went missing after a ferry capsized off the southwest coast of South Korea. Rescuers picked up survivors as they swam away from the sinking ship.
