Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A high pressure system will preserve partly cloudy skies and mostly dry weather for Thursday night, but a slow-moving low pressure system from the Deep South will bring thicker clouds and rain chances for much of Easter weekend. Details...

THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY: Expect variable clouds and cool northeast breezes of mainly 5 to 15mph. Rain chances: near 10% Thursday night, 40% Friday. Temperatures: 40s at daybreak Friday, 60s for the afternoon.

FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY: Expect mostly cloudy skies and a higher chance for rain (90% Friday night, 60% Saturday). Thunder will likely be limited. Temperatures will mainly be in the 50s and 60s in this period amid continued light northeast breezes.

EASTER SUNDAY: A few leftover showers may occur but rain chances will be trending lower than Saturday. Also expect cloudy or partly cloudy skies and daytime temperatures in the 60s to possibly lower 70s.

A PEEK INTO NEXT WEEK: A period of partly cloudy skies and low rain chances is likely from Monday through midweek. Also, daytime highs will likely grow through the 70s - possibly a few lower 80s? - in this time.
