First Alert Weather: unseasonable chill to continue through Thursday morning

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A northern high pressure system will share more chilly weather with us through Thursday morning. Temperatures will gradually modify to close to seasonal averages (70s) in the extended period. Also, a low pressure system off near Florida may shift close enough to us to bring a rain risk late this week and part of Easter weekend. Details...

WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING: Expect clear skies and unseasonably cold low temperatures - mainly in the middle and upper 30s for inland areas and lower and middle 40s for most beaches. Northeast breezes averaging near 10mph will likely preclude the formation of frost over all but the coldest and most-sheltered rural inland locales.

EXTENDED FORECAST: Thursday will likely have partly cloudy skies and highs in the 60s. The aforementioned Florida low pressure system will bring variable clouds and a 30 to 40% chance of showers for Friday and Saturday with daytime temperatures mainly 60s to lower 70s in that period. Easter may feature an isolated leftover shower, otherwise partly sunny skies and highs mainly in the lower 70s.
