Friends to hold candlelight vigil for missing woman

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Friends of a missing woman from Wilmington are holding a candlelight vigil for her later this week.

Officers with the Wilmington Police Department said Shannon Rippy Vannewkirk was last seen at The Husk Bar Saturday, April 5.

The vigil will take place Thursday, April 17, from 8- 9 p.m. in front of City Hall in downtown Wilmington. Her friends are asking those who attend to bring candles to light.

Wilmington Police began investigating 53-year-old's whereabouts after a family member reported her missing.

According to police, Vannewkirk is 5'5", 105 lbs. with brown eyes and dark brown hair.
