WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A two year old child is recovering from injuries after being bitten in the face by a dog at the Azalea Festival street fair on Saturday.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, the child is being treated for puncture wounds to the skin and other minor wounds after two dogs got overly aggressive and attacked. The dog that bit the child's face was a black lab.
Police say it happened on Saturday evening in the 100 block of South Water Street.
The owner of the dog was cited with a city code violation for having a dog inside a festival.
The child is expected to be okay.
