NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Officials with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office have released more details into a murder-suicide incident that happened inside a Porters Neck home earlier this month.
According to the sheriff's office, an investigation revealed Darrell Simpson, 79, shot and killed his nephew Steven Heald, 59, and wife Linda Simpson, 79, before turning the gun on himself.
Deputies discovered the three dead April 11, 2014 after responding to a check welfare call in the 7700 block Meadowlark Lane.
Officials didn't look for any suspects because evidence supported the crime was contained inside the house.
