First Alert Weather: Great weekend forecast, changes next week

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Dry and sunny conditions throughout the weekend. Some rain chances for early next week.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Look for continued fair skies and comfortable overnight lows in the upper 50's.

WEEKEND:
Enjoy sunny or mostly sunny skies each day! Inland temperatures will again likely be near 80 both days (lower 70's at the beaches). UV index values and tree pollen levels will remain high.  Overnight lows should range form the mid 50's to near 60.

A PEEK INTO NEXT WEEK: Rain chances will climb a bit - to near 20% Monday, 70% Tuesday, and 30% Wednesday. Some strong thunderstorms maybe possible Tuesday ahead of the next cold front.  Highs Monday and Tuesday will be in the mid to upper 70's.  Wednesday's highs fall into the mid 60's.  Lows fall from the low 60's early in the week to 40's later in the week.

COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY FORECAST FOR THE 2014 ATLANTIC HURRICANE SEASON calls for nine total named storms, three hurricanes, and one major hurricane (slightly below-average).

REASONS FOR A POSSIBLY BELOW-AVERAGE SEASON include cooler-than-average water temperatures in key portions of the Atlantic and an expected El Nino in the Pacific (the latter tends to generate Atlantic wind shear - hostile to hurricanes).

PREPARE JUST THE SAME: Regardless of any forecast for a below-average hurricane season, we advise you prepare for hurricane season (June 1 - November 30) just the same!
