SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -
A monthlong narcotics investigation uncovered a cocaine trafficking operation that was being run by a mother and her two sons in the North End.
Detectives determined that the three individuals were dealing large amounts of cocaine from their apartment, located on the first floor of 14 Brightwood Ave. They would each make deliveries in and around the Springfield area, according to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney.
Police executed a search warrant Wednesday morning and charged Sonia Escalera, 43, Jose Rivera, 26 and Luis Rivera, 24, all of 14 Brightwood Ave. with trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of ammunition, Delaney said.
Police seized $3,790 in cash, ammunition, drug paraphernalia and a 2004 Cadillac that the mother and her children used to deliver illegal narcotics, Delaney said.
All three members of the family were held in jail overnight pending their arraignment in Springfield District Court Thursday morning.
