CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – A woman charged with the shooting death of her sister in Carolina Beach earlier this month told authorities something came over her and "it was like [she] was possessed, or something," according to search warrants.

Joyce Goldberg was charged with second degree murder after allegedly shooting her sister Glenda Henry Bordeaux.

According to search warrants, Goldberg woke up around 6:40 a.m. and took the dog for a walk. The warrants say her husband heard a gunshot when Joyce returned and saw her holding his gun.

"It was my wife. She shot her sister by accident," Goldberg's husband told 911 operators. "She's shot in the chest…There's only one wound. There was only one shot."

The 911 operator walked Goldberg's husband through breathing detector tests and was prepared to walk him through CPR.

"I've got to move this gun, I've got to take the bullets out of it. I'm putting them in my pocket, I don't want any accidents," the man told the 911 operator before beginning CPR.

According to the search warrants, Joyce told detectives she had had problems with her sister in the past, but wouldn't elaborate.

The warrant says Joyce takes medication for an illness and had been taking a new medication for the first time the night before the shooting incident.

Goldberg is being held in lieu of a $287,000 secured bond. If she is able to post bond, she will be under house arrest and be required to wear an electronic monitoring device.

Prosecutors were worried about where Goldberg would live if she posted bond, saying Goldberg and her husband own more than one home possibly out of state.

Goldberg asked for a court appointed attorney, claiming she couldn't afford her own.
